Diversion Without Preparation Or Permission

Diversion defined as the instance of turning something aside from its course.  Diversions don’t have to have a negative connotation if the intention is positive for the growth and establishment of life goals. We deal with diversions every day of our lives, from detours in traffic requiring that we take an alternative route, to doing an activity that diverts the mind from tedious or serious concerns; as in recreation, reading a book, or relaxing, to help get your mind off what concerns you.

On a spiritual note, diversion could be considered a distraction, a disturbance or a smokescreen in the art of war. We know it as warfare or an act of the devil before one recognizes or sees and deems it as an act of God. With maturity and spiritual growth, you’ll see it for what it is, to draw out or bring to the forefront what could hinder progression. It could be one’s attitude or emotional development that needs attention. 

I hate the word diversion; I know hate is a strong word. The word along with the experience it brought disrupted the course of entry upon readiness to achieve my next phase/chapter in life it initiated regression, a diminishment. The term diversion in my line of work (aviation) means an aircraft is being rerouted due to bad weather, mechanical failure, to be refueled, or a crew has timed out. But wait a minute you might say, that’s not a reason to hate the word diversion. Let me explain, although I’m open to change, I am not open to change when it demands my complete attention without preparation and permission. Though it’s my job, every scenario is different. One can never adjust to adapt for the flow is constant with consistency yet never the same.

All agents are in waiting mode stationed and in position, but with diversions, there’s no telling when you’ll leave, how long you’ll stay or what the outcome will be.  We’re on the edge of our seats waiting for a signal, waiting for corporate to send word. While waiting, the flight is deplaning, with no instructions for passengers except to wait. During that time we’re taking turns likened to a fighting match telling each other it’s your turn to deal with the heat. While waiting, we’re praying the pilot doesn’t time out. Time out means they’ve completed their 12-hour shift and everyone has to wait up to 4 hours for a new trade-off, upon receiving word what corporate has put in place to resolve the problem.

Which may include a plan to get passengers home or to their final destination with another carrier, in the meantime here are your vouchers for a hotel and food in the meantime while we execute the plan.. Yes, problem solved; However, people will never be satisfied with the outcome, while others will always want more. Hearing the echoes of their response, at least we don’t have to pay for it. Yes, problem solved! 

Now, you see why I hate diversions. It is my nature to solve problems, but when solving the problem doesn’t help an unsatisfied soul. It takes something from you. My lesson, whether you have the resources and the ability to move things into place aligning one’s future. If that soul is not ready, nor satisfied with themselves there’s nothing you can do and you cannot solve everyone’s problem.

It’s 2:30 in the morning, and I am preparing to leave for work, going over my last minute checks, the Lord spoke these words. “Though they have set timetables, I am the captain and the pilot of their soul. I dictate the timetable; I allow diversions. Some are preparing to go into a place they are not ready for, their expectations are off”. He said, “their temperaments are likened to what you deal with at work, some are hot – angry, cool – moderately in between and others are low without expectations”. 

It doesn’t matter how much they’ve paid or invested in their future/journey for purpose. If the Captain says no entry, then it’s no entry. Unless the pilots have been timed out and now, there’s a shift change, with each shift change the Captain has a new expectation for the journey ahead. 

Though you have your expectations and blueprint, the Captain has a map, an estimated time of departure and arrival with pre-flight latitudes and longitude coordinates of your journey.

The Captain keeps your goals, your fear, and expectations in mind, but what’s not at the forefront of your mind is, the bumps, storms, turbulence, wind share, and wind speed while on your journey of life,  it can either slow you down or speed up your trip for your estimated time of arrival. The Captain sits high and looks ahead for what’s coming while your field of vision is directly ahead of you. While you desire to go full speed ahead, the pilots are at cruising altitudes. I say that to say trust the timing of your Captain – God for your estimated time of arrival for each season of your life.

We could consider diversion a distraction, a disturbance, or a smokescreen. But before assuming and deeming it as an act of subversion or defeat, see it as an act of God. With maturity and spiritual growth, you’ll see it for what it is and then, with precision and clarity, be able to draw out or bring to the forefront what could hinder progression. It could be one’s attitude or emotional development that needs attention. 

They are people/liken to agents connected to you, connected to your purpose. You’ve taken notice of them and you’ve overlooked their roles. These are people who you will never lay eyes on that will contribute to your journey of life. Know this, your Captain – God, sees your fears and anxieties and knows your exceptions because He knows the path set before you. Your Captain God can prepare you to endure the bumps, turbulence, and storms you will encounter and will give you instructions on how to adjust and when to travel light. Your Captain – God will educate and enlighten you to know what to expect on your journey and if you listen closely to His instructions, He will tell you the estimated time of arrival of your season called eternity. ResetLow self-esteem is a negative evaluation of oneself. This type of evaluation usually occurs when some circumstance we encounter in our life touches on our sensitivities. We personalize the incident and experience physical, emotional, and cognitive arousal. This is so alarming and confusing that we respond by acting in a self-defeating or self-destructive manner. When that happens, our actions tend to be automatic and impulse-driven; we feel upset or emotionally blocked; our thinking narrows; our self-care deteriorates; we lose our sense of self; we focus on being in control and become self-absorbed.

Self-esteem is not set in stone. Raising it is possible, but not easy. Ur self-esteem grows as you face your fears and learn from your experiences. You can start by doing these steps.

  • Practice self-care. Make new lifestyle choices by joining self-help groups and practicing positive health care.
  • Stop and take notice. Pay attention to the familiarity of the impulse. Our tendency is to overreact in the same way to the same incident. Awareness of the similarity can be the cue to slow our reactivity.
  • Choose response. Hold self-defeating impulses. Act in a self-caring and effective way. By choosing to act in a more functional way, we take a step toward facing our fears.

ResetThe year has just begun do you feel you hit a plateau in life? Do you feel like you’re going through a phase that lacks significant progress? Are you still trying to figure out what to do with your life?

Some people refer to this as being “stuck in a rut.” I just call it stuck. And once identified, sometimes it’s a mystery how to get unstuck. Your lackluster outlook might have you encountering a sense of “blah” not happy or depressed just not content and craving something different. You might also feel exhausted, off-track, unmotivated or worried. All of those are normal experiences that you may not give much thought to when you’re at your best, but every once in a while these unwelcome little obstacles catch up and it’s a struggle to move forward. So what do you do to get unstuck?

My number one job as a Leader is supporting people as they move forward, primarily because they’re stuck, stuck in jobs, relationships, health and more.  So here are some ways to help you get out of a rut:

  1. Face your fears-  What exactly is stopping you from moving forward? 
  2. Define your goals – run a vision board workshop at the change of every season because one vision board per lifetime (or year, even) is never enough.
  3. Set a reward for breakthroughs –Determine short-term milestones and rewards. What are your turning points?

Once you apply these steps above you will have a sense of direction. Your will break significant barriers and become unstuck making new achievements. Take one step at a time.. to come out of the rut you’re in.  #StartByResettingYourThinking

ResetDo you have a “time-waster,” of which you are guilty?  Mine is being on the Internet too long. I find that if I go online at the end of my workday or at least until I finish the most important tasks of the day, I am more productive and less likely to “wander” around in cyberspace.

Time is a very precious resource. The fact is that regardless of how well you manage time, at the end of a day, you will still only have had 24 hours. In one year there are still only 8,760 hours. The key is using your time efficiently and eliminating time wasters from your day. Your attitudes and behaviors affect how you use your time. Below are some examples of ineffective use of time. By substituting what’s not working for you with a more effective behavior and/or attitude you’re on the road to managing your time. You can start with..

  1. Less Interruptions/Distractions
  2. Organizing and planning your dayIm
  3. Implementing.. stop putting off things to do-procrastinator
  4. Being easy on yourself lighten up perfectionist
  5. Stop trying to do everything yourself
  6. Evaluating the task – take on as much as you can handle
  7. Having a crisis management plan in place
  8. Limiting your socializing (have a time frame)
  9. Retooling yourself if you’re lacking in skills

Time is of the essence, this is the time to be more productive, more efficient. Stop wasting time. Take the time to reflect, access and document how and where you’re wasting your time. #ResetYourThinking #StopWastingTime

Reset Your Thinking Day 18 – So You Need Approval?

AResetpproval is like a killer drug (it induce stupor or insensibility to your identity). You seeking approval becomes addictive and you quickly develop a need for more. When you have a need for approval you value the beliefs, opinions and needs of others above your own. Their opinion of you is far more important to you than your own view of yourself.

Receiving disapproval becomes a painful (heartbreaking) experience. Your entire decision-making processes are eventually taken over by your need for the approval of others. You cannot take any decisive action without their approval. You’ll sacrifice your own dreams and ambitions in order to have their approval, Why?  You may argue that you do not engage in approval seeking behaviour. However, there are common behaviors which you may fail to recognise as approval seeking. Do you?

  1. Change your position because someone appears to disapprove
  2. Paying insincere compliments to gain approval
  3. Feeling upset, worried, or insulted when someone disagrees with you
  4. Expressing agreement (verbally or non-verbally) when you do not agree
  5. Doing something which you do not want to do because you are afraid to say ‘No’Any

Behavior which is contrary to your identity and purpose, or conflicts with your core beliefs, is generally done to gain the approval of someone else.  One of  the easiest ways to avoid approval seeking is to live a life that is true to your own values and true to yourself. #ResetYourThinking

Reset Your Thinking Day 17 – Old Pain Reopen Wounds

ResetThat horrible pain that you are feeling right now will go away since time heals everything. Just keep that in mind and don’t beat yourself up if you still haven’t managed to get past your former relationship, even if you broke up with your partner quite some time ago or there was a disagreement between you and your closest friend, time still heals all wounds.

Sometimes it’s not so easy to walk away when that unfortunate event leaves some pretty nasty scars on your emotional well-being. Sometimes, love fades and there’s nothing you can do to change that. There’s no point in wondering obsessively about what happened, what you did wrong or what you could have done to prevent that because most of the time it’s nobody’s fault if you have outgrown your partner or that friend and these things just happen. It’s time to move on and leave the past behind. #ItsClosureTime

  1. Give yourself time will heal –give yourself enough time to heal
  2. Learn to forgive –him/her for what was said/done
  3. Write a letter –say everything you wanted to say to end the madness
  4. Have a symbolic ceremony –get rid of clothing, pics, delete texts SAY GOODBYE!
  5. Empty Chair –say what you wanted to say get it off your chest #unleash
  6. Don’t forget yourself –time to build self again #appreciationself #worthiness
  7. Apologize – for your wrong doing, then forgive yourself
